Did you know you can get or renew your pet license in person at our hospital? In 2013, Jefferson County transferred the administration of the county’s pet licensing program to Foothills Animal Shelter, which has a number of licensing locations throughout the county. Deer Creek Animal Hospital is proud to operate as a Foothill’s official licensing site.

For licenses, proof of rabies vaccination and (in order to qualify for reduced license fees) spay or neuter is required. Since we have those records on file, it makes it easy to get or renew licenses each year at our hospital.

Dog are required to be licensed in Jefferson County. Licensing is an easy way to provide ready identification for your pet in case he or she is separated from you. Microchipping, also available at Deer Creek Animal Hospital, is a means of permanent identification.

Benefits of a license in Jefferson County:

  • Animal control authorities will contact you immediately if your missing pet is found, and in many cases your pet is brought directly to your home.
  • You avoid fines for having an unlicensed dog.
  • 100% of pet licensing fees support Foothills Animal Shelter.

Don’t forget to keep your information up to date (address, phone, etc.) in licensing and microchipping databases and be sure to include a cell phone number on any dog tags. Please also consider putting our information on tags and in databases, in case your lost pet is injured and needs veterinary care.

Please contact us for a cat or dog license.
