Deer Creek staff treats injured Bobcat

One of two bobcats that survived being hit by a vehicle on C-470, Sept. 23 was treated by the staff of Deer Creek Animal Hospital after the cat was transported to the facility by Lakewood Animal Control.

Dr. Dan Brod estimated the cat's age at 6 to 8 months, the point where she was likely ready to start out on her own. Even though her x-rays looked severe, her injuries were not critical, according to Dr. Brod, who performed a lengthy surgery to repair the cat’s two broken legs. Following surgery the cat was transferred to an animal rehabilitator, where she'll continue to recuperate for 6 to 8 weeks and at that point, she'll be sent back into the wild. Since its inception in 1984, Deer Creek Animal Hospital has treated many wild animals that have been injured and ultimately returned to the wild.
