Injured Fox
Meet Fox Todd. This kit was hit by a car in Wheat Ridge very late one night, rolled, picked up by a commuter and driven to Animal ER of Littleton, where it was given emergency care and x-rays were taken confirming head truama and a severely broken leg. Fox Todd was taken to Deer Creek Animal Hospital, where veterinarian Dr. Dan Brod performed a very lengthy and delicate procedure to save Fox Todd's shattered leg. Fox Todd is now in rehab at EWRC, where he is convalescing from his accident.

July 13, 2007 - 9News did a story about pampering your pets and included Deer Creek’s luxury boarding facilities in the story. The story aired during the 10 o’clock news on July 13th. It focused on the luxury boarding facilities and all of its amenities and highlighted the PetWeb camera system. The story also featured Dr. Lee’s dog, Joe, taking a swim in the indoor heated pool. Larry Keppler, Deer Creek’s Hospital Administrator, was interviewed for this feature and was quoted as saying, “Deer Creek is the Ritz Carlton of the luxury boarding world.”

June 25, 2007 – The votes are in and the readers have spoken! Deer Creek Animal Hospital has been voted Top of the Town for Veterinary Clinic and Dog Boarding by the readers of 5280. April 17, 2007 – Dan Daru and Fox 31 News interviewed Dr. Todd Rezac about his training session with the West Metro Fire Department’s FEMA First Response Team. The April 19th training focused on basic first aid and emergency care for rescue dogs injured in the line of duty. This knowledge will enable the firefighters to perform life-saving emergency treatments for their rescue dogs in the field. Watch the video
May 1, 2007 – Dr. Todd Rezac was featured in a Denver Post article “Pet food: Natural or homemade”. He discussed the advantages of feeding a natural or home cooked diet in light of the recent pet food recall. He is quoted in the article as saying, “‘A lot of people are going the route of preparing their own pet food, at least for now . . . The safer foods are probably those that have more natural ingredients, and by that I mean meat and herbs’”. Dr. Rezac acknowledges that home cooked diets can be costly with long preparation times. He advises concerned pet owners to “‘ . . . avoid wheat or grain sources that have added gluten’”.

May 7, 2007 - WB2 News aired a segment on two 8-week-old kittens that were stuck in a storm drain Sunday afternoon. When Good Samaritans were unable to reach the kittens, West Metro Fire Department was called. West Metro entered both sides of the storm drain trying to reach the kittens during the 40-minute rescue, but finally were forced to use a water hose to flush them out. The kittens were subsequently treated at Deer Creek Animal Hospital for hypothermia. They recovered very well, and were fostered by one of the police officers involved in the rescue.

May 20, 2007 - Channel 7 News did a story on one of our clients whose Labrador broke into a piggy bank. Dr. Markee Kuschel performed surgery to remove $22.46 worth of coins out of the dog’s stomach, and he recovered quickly. Ingested coins can be very dangerous to pets. Pennies minted after 1982 contain zinc. As the stomach acid digests the penny, the zinc in the center is released into the bloodstream. Zinc can cause anemia (low levels of red blood cells) and can be lethal to pets when ingested.
