Denver Animal Clinic

Deer Creek Animal Hospital Denver / Littleton was honored by Jefferson County Animal Control for our generosity, compassion and dedication to critters of all kinds.

Animal Hospital Denver

As a service to our community, Deer Creek Animal Hospital Denver Littleton provides medical treatment to wildlife brought to our hospital by local animal control and wildlife officers at no cost. Many animals are then released to the care of qualified individuals and organizations for rehabilitation. We have seen a wide range of animals including hawks, owls, ducks, geese, raccoons, foxes, and even a beaver.

Give Blood – Save a Pet’s Life!

Your pet’s donation at our Littleton / Denver Animal Clinic could save the life of someone else’s best friend. Just like in human medicine, in some cases, there is no substitute for a blood transfusion when it comes to saving a beloved pet’s life. We need your help! Your pet’s donation every three to six months will enable us to offer life saving blood in emergency situations to dogs and cats that can’t afford to wait.

We are usually able to use the components of one unit of donated blood to transfuse two or three animals! Our Littleton / Denver Animal Clinic has already saved several lives with the help of our clients and their pets.

How to Donate

To ensure that all of our blood products are of premium quality, we have developed specific criteria for evaluating the health status of potential donors at our Littleton / Denver Animal Clinic. All potential donors are typed with a routine blood screening at no cost to you. This includes a complete blood count, chemistry panel and urinalysis for all animals. Dogs are also tested for heartworm, brucellosis and any tick-borne diseases. Cats are tested for the viral diseases feline leukemia and feline AIDS.

What to Expect as a Donor

Animals can donate blood as often as once every three months at our Littleton / Denver Animal Clinic. The process is very quick and has no lasting effects on your pet. Usually your pet will donate on a prearranged day. However, there are cases when an animal needs a transfusion of fresh blood that is less than six hours old. In situations like this, we need some donors that are willing to come in on an emergency basis. Please let us know if you would like to be included on this calling list!

If you pet is selected as a Deer Creek Blood Donor, he/she will receive free vaccinations. Every time your pet donates, you will receive a free 40-pound bag of food. Also, in the event your pet ever needs a transfusion, we will perform it free of charge. This is our way of saying “Thank you!” for helping us save lives!
